Under normal circumstances, one would certainly expect that to be
true. However, the UK seems to be undertaking some fairly heroic
attempts to greatly increase the physical ICU resources. I imagine
the issue which is going to arise will be an inadequate number of
people trained to use those physical resources.
I still would very much like to see some data (from any country) on
the numbers (and age distribution) of those who do, and do not,
survive after being admitted to ICU - has anyone see such data?
