The concept of 'mutual trust' is interesting actually. This is a quasi legal concept - I've found one article about it:
http://www.law.ed.ac.uk/file_download/publications/0_1022_theimplieddutyofmutualtrustandconfidence.pdf.
This article seems to be more about the duties of an employer rather than something one can assume exists between two or more parties.
Personally I think trust, whether mutual or not, has to be established or proved by an individual being 'trustful' before trust can be relied upon.

We take the view that conversations/meetings are held on the basis of mutual trust and that taping them without the consent of all parties implies that there is no such trust.
