It's ironic that in the case in question, there was no need to disclose
those details to the victim. The police having access would have been
sufficient, if they'd have acted on it when they got the initial
complaints.
It might even be worse for victims to be able to find out by themselves,
because they may not have the skills (on their own) to terminate the
relationship cleanly.
