Since it's Friday...

The implication is that a laptop left out of sight (e.g. in the boot) of an
unattended vehicle has not been "left unattended", since if it were there
would be no need for the "or in view" part.
So if that were the entirety of the policy I would expect no action.
(I might not be surprised if the policy were later rewritten, however.)
