It's my understanding that the process of Purdah relates to anything related to government (ico is a government body) and included in Purdah rules are those on press releases. So it may be that this is overkill, but the rules mean that they have to fall in line.

Subject: [data-protection] ICO falls silent?
Hi, excuse my ignorance on election matters but if someone knows can they please explain why Election Purdah applies to all ICO press releases and FOI decision notices? I can see that it might apply to some, but not all?
Chris

thanks David, that seals it for me.
I have also spoken to the ICO help desk and they confirmed that it was sensitive PD and that is should not be seen by others on any system (unless for aspecific lawful purpose etc).
but the COde of practice is useful to know about. I havent looked at that for 5 years!!..it's mostly FOI here.
