Dear Wendy,

Re: support for her studies, Nursing students who are employer sponsored are able to apply to their LA for the DSA.

Re: support as an employee, this comes under the 'Access to Work' arrangements. The job centre in the area where she lives would be where she needs to make enquiries about this. 80% of the cost of adjustments is funded for existing employees and 100% for new employees.

Regards,

	Would be grateful for some advice regarding one of our students. She is completing an in service OT degree, is funded by her employer, does not have an NHS bursary and so has been told she is not entitled to DSA. She is a mature learner who has dyslexia. Her dyslexia has been identified whilst she has been at University. Her employer is unwilling to fund either a Needs Assessment, technical equipment or dyslexia tuition. I am sure this issue has come up many times, but I would be grateful to have feedback on how it might be resolved. Has the University covered the cost? Is the employer under any legal obligation to fund some or all of the support?

	Many thanks in anticipation of your responses

	Subject: Inclusive Practice Resource

	**apologies for cross posting**

	Inclusive Practice Resource

	The Higher Education Academy is pleased to announce that the final two e-bulletins on inclusive practice are now available, covering the topics of:

	                        * Inclusive Assessment

	                        * Inclusive Technology

	These two topics complete the series, which covers six key aspects of learning and teaching. Each e-bulletin provides bite-size advice and guidance on a specific aspect of inclusive practice as well as pinpointing key online resources that provide more in-depth information. All the e-bulletins can be seen at:

	 www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/networks/sig

	The e-bulletins are brought to you by the Higher Education Academy Psychology Network which led the project to gather expert advice and guidance from leading experts in the field, in order to provide academic tutors and others involved in the provision of learning and teaching within higher education with a series of e-bulletins.

	The project was undertaken as part of the Higher Education Academy significant interest group of research managers and specialists working to support the dissemination of inclusive practices in HE institutions. Members are working on collaborative projects for the HE sector, which bring together and build on their own research, outputs and activities.

	This completes the series of e-bulletins. We hope the information provided has been both informative and appropriate and we welcome any feedback. Comments can be sent to Naomi Craig ([log in to unmask]), Academic Co-ordinator at the Higher Education Academy Psychology Subject centre.

	Best wishes
