A firm called "Virgo" who apparently sell "guttering and soffits" rang
me just now. When I asked why they were calling me, on account of me
being on the TPS, they said "this isn't a sales call - we are just
letting you know we are in your area and asking if you'd like us to drop
in a leaflet".
They stuck to the "it's not a sales call" line, so I tried a different
tack: "where did you get my phone number from". "A government database"
(likely story, do the government have opt-in databases of grumpy old
men, or people with dodgy guttering).
And about my TPS "are you sure there's not a fault with your TPS
registration" (err, yes, I'm fairly sure). <fx: tap tap> "No you aren't
listed here" - so if it's not a sales call why give your telephonists
access to an alleged TPS database??
