I have no great issue with people putting these things on (generally just
delete them), but I am in great agreement about the "Apologies for cross
posting", which many of these things carry. What they are saying is that "We
are spamming this out to as many forums (fora?) as possible, and don't
really care about it, so there". I very rarely read these.
Interestingly I occasionally run events, but so far have purposely not
"advertised" on here, as whilst I can always do with the work, I respect
this forum for it's views and discussions and do not wish to become known as
the guy who sells stuff all the time. Maybe I should do it once in while?!
Hmmm...
However, I will destroy my own argument by saying that I am always
interested in events that Mason's run, due to the fact that I have attended
their stuff in the past and they are well respected - although they *do*
contribute here.
Simon.

I expect I am not a lone voice here. I do not begrudge Mike Parsons his
promotion IF he contributes to this list. But I do not accept "Apologies
for cross posting". Correct me if I am wrong, but this is the first post
from him I have seen.
