Jobsworth? - or a manager scared of being sued?
I know we live in troubled times. I know identity theft and the
black-market trade in personal data is a real threat. However this tale
illustrates the growing obsession (in society) with protection personal
information to ridiculous lengths. I know it's partly a fear of
litigation (another obsession) but also a general pessimism and thinking
the worst. We are becoming a society frightened of its own shadow
Modern life, civilization involves some erosion of privacy e.g. I don't
mind
Tesco knowing stuff about me - they only want to flog me things.
Liberty is more important than privacy
Also, as Gerry indicated they would rather their guests made calls than
received them as it is easy money.
Soapbox moment over

No.

There is a difference between Data Protection offences (none committed)
and poor service.

If they GAVE OUT the number that might be different.

In which case, my apologies for misunderstanding the query.

As a matter of interest, do list members agree with me that if the room
number is unknown then the hotel is right to refuse to let the call
through?
