A long while ago, I was "cold-called" by someone who I thought was from BT
about what I thought was just a different type of account with them. It was
only when I got the paperwork and possibly a call/letter from BT asking me
to confirm that I was switching that I realised that I had made a mistake.
On the other hand I obtained my first mobile as a result of being called by
a BT rep - I was a BT customer. At that time the coverage of mobiles was
much less and calling their existing customers they were likely to find
quite a high proportion who weren't already owning a mobile phone.
