The 2006 communications data order introduces new purposes for the
acquisition data, for identification of deceased or seriously injured
persons or vulnerable or to identify their next of kin, and for the
investigation of alleged miscarriages justice. The purpose relating to
investigation of miscarriages of justice will exclusively available to
two new RIPA authorities, the Criminal Cases Review Commission and the
Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission.

This Order adds ... the Independent Police Complaints Commission, the
Office of Communications, the Port of Dover Police and the Port of
Liverpool Police as relevant public authorities ... United Kingdom
Atomic Energy Authority Constabulary [now] the Civil Nuclear
Constabulary ... deletes the DTI as the Radiocommunications Agency no
longer exists.
