Dear all
Some while ago I posted a message about the NHS Student Grants Unit and
how it administers the DSA. I've now heard back from the SGU Policy and
Complaints Team, and they have cleared up how the system is supposed to
work.
The good news is that the SGU is supposed to administer DSA in a broadly
similar way to LEAs, namely that any student on a relevant health-care
course who meets the residency requirement (and who isn't seconded) can
have their DSA administered by the SGU.
The bad news is that the SGU helpline had a different story when I rang
them! I've mentioned this mis-information to the Policy and Complaints
team and so, with a bit of luck, students and others who ring the
helpline in future might get the right information.
With best wishes
Honey Lucas
