Indeed, the DCA guidance states that costs per sheet shouldn't really
exceed 10p per sheet. We haven't yet charged for photocopying, as the
amounts have been fairly minimal on all of the requests we've dealt with
so far, but I am looking into what the true cost per sheet should be, and
I do suspect it will work out somewhere near to 2p or 3p.
That's a fair point about those cases which would come close to the £450
mark. There is a feeling that even if it comes to £500 or in that area, we
would try to deal with it for free. We haven't had any yet that have been
near the mark to have to make the decision - they've either been way below
or way, way over the top!

Ah, I didn't realise that.
Presumably, therefore, many bodies will have to revise their
photocopying charges to reflect *just* the marginal cost of running the
machine (and no element of time).
My local Sub Post Office charges 3p a sheet, I think. A council (who
will doubtless have a much bigger and more efficient machine) really
shouldn't be charging 10p+ as many claim to do.
Perhaps we need to get a copy of their contract with the supplier under
FOI ;-)

Yes, but it's only the edge cases we are interested in, anyway. If
there's a couple of hours work photocopying, after lots of research.
it's as well to understand whether or not that is capable of tipping the
request over the limit.
