The 31st March is a key deadline for those local authorities and other
public sector organisation who want to want to acces communicaions data
under the Regulation of Invesigatory powers Act 2000.
Fom 5th Janaury last year, councils and others have been able to access
data such as who set up a webiste, who owns an email address and when a
telephone line was installed in a property. This informaion can be used
for law enforcement purposes e.g. benefit fraud, planning enforcement,
trading standards, licensing and anti social behaviour.
To take advantge of the new powers you must have a Single Poin of
Contact(SPOC). This person must attend a Home Office approved two day
training course culminating in a one hour exam by 31st March 2005.

Manchster :21st and 22nd Feb
London: 23rd and 24th March
