Subject: [data-protection] Data Matching
***** THIS EMAIL WAS SENT VIA THE INTERNET *****
All
One I have received this morning which makes me consider the rules....a
company are offering us data matching services (they wish to use about 300
names and addresses & dob from our SW database to match with Health). Hey
ho:
1. We shouldn't be using live data in a testing environment
2. Has he/she given their consent?
The above two reasons make me say no...but will the client eventually
benefit? The company only intend to use this data to see if they can get a
match and will then delete the data..Ok you might say. who will know that
this has been done.....but I do, and as a DP person have to point out my
concerns. The company would also have to sign a Confidentiality Statement
etc that they will not use the data but I wlecome some thoughts from some of
you who never say no.
