In the continuing saga of my SAR nightmares, I've hit a new snag.
I have discovered data held on me that I believe to be incorrect - the
company claims to have made a payment to me that I have no record or
recollection of ever having received.
When I pointed out that I thought this data to be inaccurate, and that
the company should either provide further information relating to the
transaction, or correct their records, they told me they believed the
information was correct and to contact their accounts department if I had
any further questions. The OIC said, as part of their larger enquiry into
my complaint, that "we do not believe this is an unreasonable request
and would advise you to contact the accounts department".
This is deliciously ironic as one of the main reasons for making the SAR
in the first place was my inability to get a response from contacting
the company normally (and also as the person dealing with my SAR was the
head of the accounts team, and is now MD!)
Of course I'm surpised the OIC didn't claim that this isn't data about
me, but just data about my transactions with the company.
Is this really all I can do when I believe data is incorrect but the
company disputes it?
Tony
