There is also the problem of what happens when the local VD clinic
emails the ex employee confirming his next appointment. (If you want
extreme examples to get you thinking).
I would also be looking at the law of Interception of Communications,
and any guidance about Lawful Business Practice, as well as the more
mundane DPA stuff. On a private network (which will almost certainly be
the case) the offence should not be criminal, however.
Some organisations simply cancel the email account, bounce the email,
and leave it up to the initiative of the correspondent to find a new
person to email.
