Hi All
Social Services along with myself developed an Open Access Policy. We have
asked for views from the Police and other organisations who may have
provided data. The Police are asking us to state that any information
received from them should not come under this Policy. I feel that this goes
totally against the actual policy as Social Services are accessible records.
Anyone any views - obviously there may be some exemptions i.e. if a
father/mother was suspected of abusing a child but I would have thought each
request for access should be dealt with on a case by case basis.
The information they sometimes provide is they have a "suspicion" but no
actual investigation is taking place. I am a bit concerned about this as
the information may not be accurate and therefore how could someone have the
file corrected. On the other hand it might be accurate.
I do not feel having looked through my books there is a blanket exemption.
