I know some discussion has taken place recently about the various rules
for different markets and that Tim Trent has kindly given us a link to his
excellent legislation tracking page, but I have a few questions:
1. Does anyone have a simple (is there ever such a thing with DP) chart
that details whether the member states are opt-in or opt-out across all
channels i.e. post, phone and so on for business to consumer and business
to business?
2. If another Euro state decides to telemarket into the UK post May 04, do
they need to screen by TPS for either b2c or b2b?
I spoke to the data protection commissioner's offices in France and
Germany this week and what a joy that was. My French is fluent but that
counts for nowt when it comes to understanding what's going on. And what
about the subtelties in the way the new regulations (let alone the old
ones!) are interpreted e.g. customers or recipients, negotiations for a
sale and so on?
Any bright Euro-souls out there?
Regards
Jonathan
