Did the school not send letters out to parents asking for consent to video
etc. We do allow parents to video and tell the parents that they can do
so..... As yet, we have never had a refusal to video or take pics.

***** THIS EMAIL WAS RECEIVED FROM THE INTERNET *****
I have been reading with quiet amusement on a Monday morning all the
messages re below. My daughter (age 6)came home with a list of
names that
had been hand written during class of all the people in the class
(no school
mentioned however). She promptly scribbled out several of the names
as she
didn't want to send them to all the class. Personal choice coming
out here,
to which she wouldn't have needed a list in the first place. But as
for
multi ethnic/cult/cultural and dual gender issues, if another person
chose
not to accept the card or they sent a similar one to my daughter for
celebration of their own festivals then I'm sure that she would
happily
accept it. I know that we live in a time where we have to teach our
children new things/laws that are in the world but please, lets let
them be
children for a little while longer. I mean please, I can't even
video the
Christmas concert, so lets let her have the pleasure of Christmas
cards!
Thanks

Actually I AM half serious. Not to prevent the list being handed
out, but
to point out some of the absurdities that we are faced with day to
day!
Oh, it's multi ethnic/cult/cultural and dual gender. And NOT in
Middlesex.
Interesting things is, since many parents are low income, and have
to buy
cigarettes and alcopops, the cost of the cards and the potential
embarrassment has to be considered when the card cannot be afforded.
No, wait. THAT's the Friday part.

Aye, teach them young all the bourgeois habits. Globalisation!!!
Is the parent working for Macdonald's or something?

Yeap. Opolopoulopoulos here ... I can imagine.

Are you seriously asking the question or are you on a Friday mode?

Floggings may be right when considered that the school (sorry,
nursery
thing) is probably not multiracial and probably of some single
religious
persuation.
Flogging may come natural so believe me M$ may be right.
As we are on to the multiracial thing, what if the nursery does
indeed have
different ethnic groups who don't celebrate Xmas. It would be
ignorant to
give a card to those groups although it would be correct for them to
give a
card to a christian if they so wished. So to be correct they should
provide
sensitive personal data ... but in any case they should not provide
anything.
Isn't this becoming the case of use a sledge hammer to smash a nut,
really
the act would not have been passed with children's xmas cards in
mind
Oh forget it. It is Friday ... and what about the human rights of
the tree
that was cut to make the paper that made the card. Trees have
feelings too.
I think the parent should go and bake some biscuits ... oh no the
obesity
lobby is coming.
