Again I come back to basic politeness. Ignoring any legal implications at
all, I have no desire for any conversation of mine with your offices to be
recorded. And I reserve the right to close the call under those
circumstances.
I suspect this is an area your local press will have a field day with on
pure "reasonableness" let alone any DP or Human Rights implications. Strong
advice is to use extreme care unless it is clearly announced. And do
remember that "Recording for quality control and training purposes" is a
very specific set of purposes.
By the way, if we discuss my trade union membership in any way during the
call, then that data becomes sensitive. How will you handle that?

I should have been more informative -
We are about to implement automatic telephone recording for all trunk calls
incoming and outgoing, all outgoing calls will of course be by staff and
they will know of the recordings (private or business) but incoming is
different - a call could go to any member of staff who may not remember to
advise the caller hence my query - do we have to inform all callers.
