The Anti-Spam big guns are out again. Not just the ASA, but also
<news:news.admin.net-abuse.email> news.admin.net-abuse.email [NANAE] (the
newsgroup where matters about SPEWS (http://www.spews.org/) are "discussed"
(do NOT expect an easy ride if you go there and post. The people there have
a low threshold of tolerance for anything off topic or that differs from
their views, and you can expect to be heavily flamed. In addition, posting
there with your own e,mail address will open you up to a torrent so spam.
Ironic?
We have placed the ASA's judgement against Evesham Technology on our website
at http://www.marketimprove.com/hotnews.html alongside the prior one against
The Training Guild.
There are twin interesting elements to the Evesham Technology ruling. It is
alleged on the NANAE group that Evesham haven't stopped acting in the way
that caused the judgement, even with this shot across their bows (I am
making no comment on this except to say that it would be astounding if this
were true), and that their ISP is likely to receive a SPEWS block because
they harbour an organisation with an ASA judgement against them.
When The Training Guild was judged against we saw a huge number of hits on
Google showing the verdict rather than virtues of the organisation.
Doubtless Google will soon pick up the adverse PR for Evesham Technology as
well. Not a Happy Christmas for Evesham. It shows how careful
organisations have to be with electronic communications, especially now 11th
December has passed.
