Our practice is the same as you are doing. The only thing we have found
is that there is now a necessity to record what has been exempted (and
why) in each SAR, so that a consistent approach can be taken and a check
can be made as part of subsequent SAR for any exemptions that no longer
apply (so that the relevant stuff can be disclosed).
From this you can probably work out that we've had our fingers burnt
because of a lack of consistency.....
