The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is seeking a motivated
individual who would relish the challenge of ensuring compliance with Data
Protection and Freedom of Information within a diverse and varied
environment.
Located in the Legal Services Department, you will be responsible for
assisting the Information Lawyer to draft, implement and maintain policies
and procedures relating to Freedom of Information and Data Protection;
providing documentation, advice and guidance to senior management, staff
and elected members and undertaking training for all levels of staff. You
will be responsible for co-ordinating Data Protection and Freedom of
Information requests and overseeing the maintenance and review of the
Council’s Publication Scheme and Data Protection notification. You will
also have direct responsibility for undertaking data protection audits,
mapping information flows, and assisting in the development of information
sharing protocols, and will be the public’s point of contact for Data
Protection and Freedom of Information queries.
In addition, you will have specific responsibility for the Finance
Department’s and Chief Executive’s Office Data Protection and Freedom of
Information compliance as those directorates’ designated Information
Manager.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, knowledge
of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act, and an awareness of
IT security issues. You will also have experience of advising on Data
Protection matters and a relevant qualification.
