Afternoon All,
Document retention / disposal arose this afternoon during discussions with
council's Public Consultation Officer.
She's been told documents related to public consultation must be kept for 7
years for audit purposes. Lots of people 'know this to be true' but no-one
can point us to the actual requirement (internal or external).
As she's generating a lot of paper containing personal data, much of which
is duplicated in electronic records, we'd like to develop a realistic
retention / destruction schedule. Both to comply with principle 5 and free
up some space.
Any advice on how long and why you keep documents of original entry like
the following would be appreciated:
1. Recruitment questionnaires for focus groups, people's panels, etc.
2. Opinion poll / qualitative questionnaires
3. Mailing lists for specific research (completed) for individual services
Thanks, Kirsty.
