Yes. Read the PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984) guidance issued
to police forces and prosecutors. In it you'll find there is more to this
than meets the eye. The procedures for sealing the evidence, logging the
tape usage and ensuring the tapes are not tampered with are all important
factors in providing usable evidence of any non-human type. Some people
think it's just a matter of putting up cameras and taping what goes on.
Oh, and don't forget DPA issues associated with installing CCTV, these too
can get evidence thrown out.
