At UCN we provide dyslexic students with cover sheets for assignments to
indicate that they have dyslexia. We also provide guidelines for tutors on
marking work of dyslexic students.
I have had feedback from one course team that the assignment front sheets
are not taken into consideration at time of marking the work, and are only
considered during moderation by external examiners or at the Exam Board. I
am not sure how widespread this practice is, but want develop a "code of
practice" to replace the current good practice guidelines.
I would welcome comments on how similar systems are applied elsewhere, and
any the extent to which dyslexia should be taken into account during initial
marking.
Many thanks,
Clare
