In May last year when I sought some advice from the OIC about amalgamating
1984 registrations for a London Borough I was told by the OIC that there
were two reasons for allowing 1984 registrations to run until their expiry.
Firstly it was because the registration was valid in law to a specific date
and secondly the OIC didn't have the capacity to manage all the new
notifications that would have to be made if all existing registrations
expired on 24 October with the end of the transition phase.
There was no mention of a requirement to permit this under the impending FoI
Act. I'd be interested to learn more about the connection Nichola mentions.

Hi All
That's probably why I was not aware - how does this affect us poor souls in
Scotland - FOI is still in the draft bill stage up here and as you probably
know we are to have our own Information Commissioner for FOI although we use
Elizabeth France for Data Protection...help...or do we assume that because
the FOI is an actual UK Act we should be following the UK Act and then
revert to the Scottish version when it is finalised.
Why can't things be straightforward?
