The Lancaster publications office are currently working on the idea of putting
a web cam in our central square and beaming live pictures of life on campus
perpetually worldwide via the university website.
I have a number of qualms about this (predominantly relating to consent and/or
how to answer subject access requests) and I seem to recall that, some time in
the past, another University who did this sort of thing was required to stop -
either due to pressure from their own Student's Union or from the OIC direct.
Can anyone remember this case and maybe provide me with further details? I'd be
interested to hear the conclusion.
I've got a vague recollection that the institution may have been
UEA....(apologies to anyone at UEA if this turns out to be my faulty memory,
though!).
