The organisation I work in has a central post-in room where all mail is
opened unless it is marked private & confidential. The reason for this is
that a large quantity of donations are received in the daily postbag and the
post-in team must log details of each donation received to minimise the risk
of money going astray. Because of the volume of money handled, security is
very tight - staff may not take any personal belongings into the room but
have to use lockers outside. A minimum of 2 staff must be present in the
room at all times, cctv is in operation as well as access to the room being
swipe-card restricted.
