The BSI has just produced a guide "Data protection - Guide to Developing an
email Policy". It's a start at least.

Subject: FW: E-mail protection.
I was wondering if anybody knows the situation in terms of e-mail i.e. who
owns them, what the rules are on administrative viewing(accidental) and any
other information. I know that there are new areas of the law that deal
with computer misuse, however I am not to sure about electronic mail. I
know that it is considered the same a normal mail but I am unsure on some
areas.
Cheers,
