I felt the same way although up here in Scotland - we do have COSLA
meetings. There is also NADPO but again that involves travel to London - it
is a long way to go to find out about Data protection and like any local
council/colleges costs can often amount to a fair bit and are not always
readily available.
I have managed to get Phil Boyd to come up from the Commissioner's Office
quite soon - he would not do it for the Council solely - I had to invite
various other voluntary organisations for the morning session where he will
do a general presentation with Questions and Answers and he is holding a
workshop specific to the Council in the afternoon.
I notice that Masons also offer traiing for the ISEB Certificate in Data
Protection but that can amount to £5000 although I suppose if you went in at
an intermediary stage surely some discount would be made available (I
suppose Chris Pounder can clarify that point).
