Just to add our experiences. When a new patent administration system
was implemented we created about 40 to 50 test patients. We gave names
Fictitious Test, Fictitious Test1 etc. to these patients as well as some
'silly ' names (Sandy Shaws, Ivor Headache, Sonny Daze, Robin Mansions
etc.). They were all entered using specific registration numbers
(numbers that we would not come close to using for a number of years)
and when testing was complete all patients had everything but their
demographic details wiped from the system so no confusion would occur.
We still use two test patients on our live system now, which enable us
to test software updates, but these have the address of the hospital
attached, so as to save us the embarrassment of any accidental postings!
Hope this is useful
