Hallo All
I am Data Protection Officer for the Royal College of General Practitioners,
but relatively inexperienced in this role!!
The College wishes to compile a Register of Interests from information
supplied, to a form, by members of College Council (Trustees) and to
disclose this information to anyone enquiring on any potential conflict of
interest. Apart from possible Trade Union membership details no sensitive
data is being collected.
I can find no reference to the compilation of a Registers of Interests being
a legal requirement or necessary under any enactment.
It seems to me, therefore, that normal DP Act provisions apply, i.e. no
sensitive data (explicit consent) and no exemptions under Clause 34
(Information available to the public by or under enactment.). Am I right?
I would be very grateful for any comments.
