Hi everyone,
Local authorities often have to recover debts and will often use
credit reference information in the commercial credit market to
trace the debtors. If an authority having utilised all its
resources to collect its debts contacts a credit reference agency
without the individuals consent is this taken as breaching the 1998
Act. I would have said NO as asking for an individuals consent is
likely to prejudice the collection of the debt for the authority.
What do you think?
I would appreciate any advice you can give on this matter.
Regards,
Jody Bhoot
