It may not be easy to inform anyone as the addresses and everything else
is gone ... until a new server is obtained and everything installed from
a backup etc.
I did not know we would have to inform the data subjects in such
circumstances (just imagine the fun). However, I guess if critical
details were lost, eg. bank accounts, offences (sexual???) etc, it would
be wise to inform the data subjects so they can take adequate
precautions (inform their bank, change house ;-) etc.
Thus the lesson is, stick to good old index cards.
