This is a practical course designed to assist professionals in the organisation of all aspects of work experience and work based learning programmes for learners.
Date: Monday, 7th February 2005
Venue: RNIB, 105 Judd Street, London, WC1H 9NE
Fee: £125 - full day
Many disabled learners, including those who are blind and partially sighted are denied the opportunity of gaining good work experience because of a range of barriers that make participation difficult. This one-day course will explore how to overcome those barriers and look at the legalities and best practice involved in organising successful work placement programmes for disabled students.
The knowledge and good practices learned in this course, although focused on visual impairment, can be applied to all areas of disability and work experience. We will be looking at this topic from an employers and employees perspective and evaluating practical methods of planning and support, the legal issues involved and sources of information and advice.
Course presenter: Elizabeth Jackson, RNIB Senior PCET Officer, London & South East
Who should attend?
This course will be of interest to all professionals involved in organising and providing work experience placements for learners at schools, colleges or as part of a rehabilitation programme. Connexions personal advisers and disability employment advisers may also gain from attending this valuable course.
