I wonder if I may ask for your thoughts on the following request which
has been received from our local Environmental Health department.
What they are asking for is that the University supplies them with a
full list of those properties which are available for students to rent,
not the names of the landlords just the addresses. The purpose being to
ensure that properties are brought up to a safe standard for multiple
occupation, and then noted as such on their particulars.
My initial thought was "no way" this is personal data, we don't have
consent so we shouldn't share the information. This was my response to
the Council. However, they have now come back to me to say that they
don't believe it is a data protection matter as they are only asking for
addresses....
any thoughts from other list members?
thanks
Gwenan
