I'm just having one of those really bad hair days, so HELP please!
Our lovely Sales people are referring to a publication that has people
names, and works positions, addresses and phone numbers. They 'need' to
contact these people in order to sell them our wonderful products.
Up to now, I have said that they are fair game for postal marketing (nice
of me I know!). However, the 'Blue Book' holds eMail addresses and Works
Phone Numbers for these important folk.
A couple of questions ...
1. I cannot remember whether there is an exception for our Sales folks not
to get peoples consent to contact them if the personal information is
publically available. Which part of the Act says this - my eyes gave up
focusing ages ago
2. With the PEC Regs coming into force, would that mean that the
information provided publically in the 'Blue Book' can be used for
marketing purposes (ie we cannot phone or eMail these people)?
(It is easy to get hung up on the authors Fair Processing Wording, which I
feel is wholly inadequate, but I would assume that thats their look out!)
