The Role
The Information Rights and Information Security (IRIS) Service leads for the House on security of information, both paper and electronic, and manages the House’s obligations under the information laws (Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), Freedom of Information 2000 (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIRs)).
The purpose of this role will be to manage and co-ordinate the project and communications work of the IRIS Service. The post-holder will take the lead on project planning and communications, working with colleagues in the IRIS service and others Teams across the House.
In the coming year, this will include the House’s responsibilities for the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in May 2018 and the roll out and operation of a new Parliamentary Protective Marking Scheme (PPMS). Input and expertise will also be required on various other initiatives across the team and the wider House services.
You will play a key role working alongside various projects and attending boards and groups representing the IRIS team as required. You will work closely with IRIS colleagues to develop action plans and drive changes across the House ensuring the House meets its obligations in relation to information law. You will develop and use appropriate tools to ensure communications reach our internal audiences and evaluate success by ensuring those communications have been effective.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
• Highly effective project management and organisational skills to deliver to agreed targets within budget, compiling and reporting data to provide assurance and information to different audiences
• Good communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written); ability to build and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels
• Excellent interpersonal skills including: experience of influencing and persuading people at all levels; engaging positively in discussions and taking account of others’ views
• A recognised project management qualification is desirable
