You might consider that you have a "moral" obligation as a concerned
citizen to report the fact, but I don't think you have any legal
obligation to do so in your official capacity. Just my own
thoughts...... (feel free to shoot me down everyone!!!)

Subject: [data-protection] Duty to disclose?
Hi All
I am hoping someone will be able to confirm an appropriate course of
action for me. A colleague has asked me a hypothetical question, and
I'm not 100% confident about the answer.
Basically, the question is that if we, as a college, receive information
which suggests a potential student may have been falsely claiming JSA
whilst working, do we have a duty to disclose this information to the
relevant authorities or do we have a duty of confidentiality to the
potential student?
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Jenny Sparling
