Members of this list may be interested in coming along to the second annual "Big
Brother Awards" to be held next Monday (Oct 18) at the London School of
Economics. I wanted to extend an invitation to those of you who would like to
attend, with apologies for the short notice.
The awards are given to the government and private sector organisations which
have done the most to invade personal privacy in Britain. Awards will also be
given to individuals and organisations which have made an outstanding
contribution to the protection of privacy.
Four "Big Brother" awards will be presented to the government agency, company,
project and public official which have done most to invade personal privacy. A
"lifetime menace" award will also be presented. Jack Straw is the hot
favourite, followed closely by the Home Office.
The event is being hosted by the Department of Information Systems in the London
School of Economics, and is organised by Privacy International
(www.privacyinternational.org).
The event is being sponsored by Computing and Demon Internet. Awards will be
presented by Channel 4's Mark Thomas.
Let me know ASAP if you are interested in attending, and I will forward details.
best wishes
Simon Davies
