We have a student who may be lodging an appeal against the university. In
any formal hearing, she is entitled to be accompanied by a member of the
university. She may ask me to perform that role. I fear a conflict of
interest in that I would be attending on her behalf, but I am employed by
the university (and hence presumably bound to implement its policies and
decisions).
Has anyone elsewhere faced such conflicts who may have some advice as to
how to resolve them?
