Dear Elizabeth
Given that you do no wish to wear a headset and find
holding a phone tiring, solutions seems to be limited. You
mention a lapel mike, (like TV Newsreaders presumably but
these may not be suitable, or hard to get - whatever - and
does not address the issue of you hearing the caller.
If it was me I think I may fix a microphone onto frame hung
from both shoulders, so that the mike is always in front of
my mouth when I move, like when Bob Dylan is playing the
harmonica handsfree. An ear piece for privacy would have to
be wired up somehow. If British Telecom haven't got the
solution that suits you, try contacting REMAP. This is a
team of engineers who "invent" and produce gadgets for
people with disabilites in their spare time. They could
perhaps make what you need. Telephone: 01732 883818
