I agree with Anne-Denise, the joke is not about any religion, just human
nature. It's sad though that the joke should be automatically taken
that way. I hope that this list will never be swamped by
over-enthusiastic 'political correctness' and self-censorship.

I agree with Loretto. This is not an anti Irish joke, it is an anti
religion joke. You could tell it about any religion and it would be
as funny. The criticisms sound similar to the people who complained
about Father Ted on Right to Reply, and who were surprised to find
the writers and actors are all Irish Catholics and not anti Catholic
or anti Irish at all. .
