I saw the excellent film "Official Secrets" starring Kiera Knightly over the weekend, which many of you may have a professional interest in.
For those of you unfamiliar with the plot (based on real events), a GCHQ employee faces prosecution for leaking sensitive information concerning an alleged government plan to rig the UN Security Council vote on the proposal to invade Iraq in 2003.
Couldn't help noticing a major gaffe though - in a scene where GCHQ are conducting interrogations to find the source of the leak, an employee gets called in to the manager's office - but doesn't log off from her PC as she leaves her desk - thus potentially exposing top secret data to an open plan office full of spies in the immediate aftermath of a major leak!
It's bad enough when I have a go at some of my colleagues at a small borough council for this, but GCHQ.... !
I won't be writing to the film makers to complain, but nevertheless some food for thought on a sunny Monday morning.
