You may be interested in the recent dismissed appeal between Preece v JD Wetherspoons plc. This relates to a staff members inappropriate use of Facebook in the workplace.
The case is reported in the following article: http://www.xperthr.co.uk/article/108662/abusive-facebook-comments-led-to-pub-shift-managers-dismissal.aspx
The success of this dismissal appears to be down to the Employers robust ICT policy. Which leads me to ask how robust can we make ICT policies without infringing on a persons rights and freedoms? After all, work is a biographical part of our lives that we all tend to have a moan about? Some of us choose to do so Friday nights in the pub, some prefer to blog; Either way the are both public places?
Just my afternoon thought?
Cheerio for now.
