BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER

Working within the Student Services department, you will provide
communication support for a specified Deaf student undertaking a PGCE
teacher training qualification at Goldsmiths. This will involve working on
campus as well as in local schools where the student is undertaking
placements.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret between
BSL and English and show an aptitude to work in a higher education
environment.
Willingness to undertake occasional one off interpreting work for other
departments and relevant administrative work will be required.
You should have a Level 4 in British Sign Language (or equivalent) or be
currently training at this level. You should also have experience of
interpreting with deaf adults in a formal setting. Experience of working
within an educational setting is desirable.
A high level of Deaf awareness is an essential requirement.
