It seems to me a damn sight easier to strongly encrypt/lock down a one-user non-networked system than a networked one which has hundreds, or thousands of users.

Why can't some of the bigger organizations who have had data breaches (I won't name any, I think we know who they are) afford such encryption software ? It's obviously taking them quite a while to break it.

Serious question - this appears to be a s53 RIPA offence (i.e. failure to comply with a notice to supply encryption key).
As far as I can see there is nothing to stop plod issuing a further notice after this man's sentence has been served (with the prospect a further sentence for non-compliance)? (assuming they haven't blasted their way through the encryption before then)

My thoughts are that 16 weeks is probably preferably to what he would have got had they have found anything! He's obviously planned it quite well.
Be nice if they devoted some hardware to it for a few years and eventually got him.
