Surely they are much more expensive? Or do you propose re-purposing the
existing ANPR and Trafficmaster cameras (which already gather ANPR
data).
The infamous Nottingham ring road speed cameras that caused people to
slow down "too much", and therefore didn't get the expected revenue to
cover their cost, were an early Average Speed (SPECS) system.
There's one stretch of that Ring Road that has five forms of camera (I
must try to get a photo with all of them in, one day).
SPECS speed cameras
Trafficmaster (Blue)
ANPR (Very similar but green)
Traffic monitors (on really high poles)
CCTV attached to some business premises
